Membership Requirements

Each candidate for entry into the Marian Catechist Apostolate must be a confirmed Catholic adult. Lay men and women, whether single, married or widowed, are eligible, as long as they are:

  • Firm believers in the Catholic Faith, as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church;
  • Adequately prepared to effectively communicate the Gospel revealed by Jesus Christ and entrusted to the Church He founded;
  • Strongly motivated to share with others the true Faith which they possess;
  • Sufficiently free to devote some time every week to working in the Apostolate of Catechesis;
  • Willing to follow the directives given for the cooperative efforts of members of the Marian Catechist Apostolate.

The Episcopal Moderator has the authority to deny or revoke the membership of any Marian Catechist who is not in accord with the purpose and objectives of this Public Association of the Faithful.

Forms of Membership

There are three forms of membership in the Marian Catechist Apostolate.

Active: Active members are engaged in the Apostolate of Catechesis, or are in the process of preparing for active catechetical work. They complete all the necessary doctrinal and spiritual requirements in order to make their Solemn Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Contemplative: Contemplative members also complete all the necessary doctrinal and spiritual requirements in order to make their Solemn Consecration. They offer their prayers, sacrifices and sufferings for the good of the Church, Her Bishops and priests, and especially for the catechetical efforts of active Marian Catechists.

Associate: Associate members are faithful Catholics who want to support the Apostolate, but are unable to meet the requirements for becoming Active or Contemplative Marian Catechists. These dedicated men and women follow the spiritual practices to the degree they are able, provide regular financial support, and/or assist the Marian Catechists in practical ways.
